Creating your personal brand

Creating your personal brand

After following How To Create Your “It” Personal Brand Steps One and Two, you should now have a clarity about your “It” and should have a clear, compelling “It” Message that you’ve communicated across your personal brand touch points. The next step in creating your “It” personal brand is to connect with your Clique both online and offline through valuable, sharable, brand content.

First, choose a content platform that’s most natural to you. If you’re a strong writer, you consider starting a blog and guest contributing on other sites that reach your audience. If you prefer speaking, creating online videos (vlogs) is a great option for you. If you’re terrified of being on camera, consider starting a podcast.

Next, start to think about what kind of content you want to create. A strong content marketing strategy delivers your unique value (your “It”) through each content piece you create. Follow my K.I.S.S.S.S rule to create valuable, shareable personal branded content pieces: Keep It Simple Significant Signature and Shareable.

In order to deliver the most value to your audience and guarantee your content is shared to grow your personal brand online, always ask yourself the following questions:

  1. “Is the value of my content piece simple and clearly stated right away?”
  2. “Is the key message I’m communicating significant to my audience? It is genuinely of value to them?”
  3. “Is my content piece signature to my brand (always aim to create branded content versus generic content)?”
  4. “Is my content piece shareable? Is it timely and relevant to my audience? Does it include social media share buttons? Does it include a relevant and high-quality photo?”

If you pass the K.I.S.S.S.S test, post your content piece on your preferred platform and share it via social media. Create a content calendar to consistently connect with your audience online and grow your “It” personal brand.
