In this video 20 beautiful women sat in a sharing circle where we let down our walls, we listened to each other, we supported each other, and we literally put our negative thoughts into a trash bin and put a lid on it.🗑 It felt like a victory seeing all of those negative thoughts in the trash and sealing it shut. But, of course, thoughts (good & bad) will always come and go. Like this morning, I woke up a little foggy, so I started with writing down what I wanted to release and where I wanted to take action. It feels really good to write thoughts/things down, especially now like: -Writing a to do or action list, or... -Writing in a gratitude journal, or... -Writing a letter to your best self or a loved one, or... -Doodling poetry or song lyrics, or...(I wish I was good) -OR Try writing out what’s bothering you and having a little trash ceremony to create room for thoughts and things that lift you during this time.🔥 After I burn something I love to take my sage stick and clear the energy.✨ These simple actions are bringing me clarity and making me feel a bit more in control during this time of uncertainty. BUTTTT YUP, I’m missing social interaction and the feeling of being in this sharing circle. This morning I sat on my white chair, hot coffee in hand, and I started to breathe and let my mind wander freely. As I got deeper in my breath I began to feel like I was being taken to another place. I felt the sun on my skin, I could smell fresh mountain air, I could hear the wind whistle, I could touch the leaves, and hear the snow crunch and crackle beneath me. It felt so good to escape. It felt so good to allow my mind to explore the mental vacation and visit to the mountains. Where can you let your mind wander today? 🌎 Somewhere cold or somewhere warm? Somewhere you have been or somewhere you want to go?

Alright so it’s official, we are all stuck at home. We can totally freak out and stay stuck in fear or we can surrender to the unknown and seize the down moments that much more. 🧘🏻♀️ Mom and I decided that we wanted to find laughter and play throughout this phase. (Not laugh at it - laugh through it). So we did some yoga with GiGi🐶 in the garage this morning and almost Peed in our pants from laughing so hard. It’s ok to be silly and it’s ok to laugh during this time! Laughter is the best medicine. My grandma Elaine always said, “Just be happy!” So that is the mantra I am playing over and over in my head. MANTRA: “Just be happy, laugh when possible, cherish this down time, be productive in places I usually don’t have time for, use this global test as a reason to reset my mindset and focus on what I can control.” What are you doing at home to laugh and not spiral in fear? Ohhh wow...Yesterday’s Yoga Release & Realign retreat could not have come at a better time.✨ -We did Vinyasa & Yin Yoga 🧘🏻♀️ led by the strong & beautiful @floridayogamama -We did Myo-Fascia body work & foam rolling led by the hysterical incredible healer @magicalhandsphysicaltherapy -We danced with the beautiful @laurayogabliss -We sipped 🥂, took in the rooftop view & had lunch in the ☀️ @rachelsbrides -We cried -We belly laughed -We formed new friendships -We supported & held space for each other during intimate sharing circles -We Reset our mindset so that we can better balance our thoughts & fears during this challenging time full of unknown.🌈#RainbowReality @marisahughescollective Thankful is an understatement. Ok!!! Over the weekend my calendar officially turned upside down due to the Coronavirus. 💨📆 This is a first... -Agreements on pause -Travel cancelled -Conferences cancelled -Events on pause -And all the deadlines I have been working for are now irrelevant As all the information and CHANGE started to flood in I realized how calm I felt inside. The calm was thanks to all the mindset work I have been practicing and I could immediately feel the difference in my mental, physical, and spiritual self. In many cases we have no control over most outcomes, but we do have the power to decide how to deal with it. And that is what I focused on all weekend and intend to do this week. So, here is what we can control: -Practicing self care & whatever that means to you: yoga, meditation, cooking, walking outside, taking a hot bath. -Offer help and compassion to others. -Don’t let your inner dialogue get the best of you: Replaying conversations in your head or imagining terrible outcomes over & over again isn't helpful. -Accept that there are forces larger than you & have thanks for the people around you that give you balance. -Be on the lookout for the silver lining in the twists and turns. There is always a learning moment. Consider how it helps you grow. Oh ya...and stock up on hand sanitizer! “Your focus determines your reality.” Not gonna lie, last night the Sunday scaries started to creep in and I could feel my mind starting to spiral. It was a tough weekend for my family as we lost someone very close to us in a terrible Motorcycle accident. A unexpected loss like this stops you in your tracks and makes you think about how precious life is. One day your here and one day your not. As I was processing this loss late last night while kind of watching Star Wars on the TV in the background- the swirl of thoughts about my week, my to do list, up coming travel, and the series of deadlines I had all bleed together and I started to feel like I was mentally sinking in quicksand. 🕳 Then a brilliant George Lucas line struck me like a lightning bolt, “Your Focus Determines Your Reality.” (I’m new to the #Starwars world so this line was a new one for me) It became clear in that moment, wow I am NOT focused on all the right things and gave myself a gentle reality slap: Perspective Flip: -I am grateful for the memories made with whom we lost -I’m grateful for the air in my lungs -I’m grateful for my family’s safety & health -I am grateful for the projects I am working on -I am grateful for the upcoming travel & opportunities ahead -I am grateful to be busy with things that are fueling me vs those that drain me -> What quicksand - I’m flying not sinking! We have the power within to reset and focus. Not always easy, but we do have the choice.
