The Guide for Side-Job Hunting for Millennial’s

Every millennial is probably all too familiar with all the articles and discussions about how they are entitled, lazy, impatient, and unable to stay at one job for too long.  However, these stereotypes rarely take into consideration the outside factors, the conditions and options (both positive and negative) offered to millennials that weren’t the same for previous generations. For example, while older generations were able to get by with one 9 to 5 job, most millennials today need to have two or more jobs. Without going into details of such a change, if you are a millennial looking for a side job, here are some of the best ones you can find today.

Teaching English over Skype has become an incredibly popular and quite lucrative job. It does require a lot of patience, social skills, and quality equipment, but it also comes with many advantages such as flexible work hours, no commuting, working from the comfort of your own home, etc. So, if you have proof of your English knowledge or if you’re a native speaker, this side hustle is definitely worth considering.

If you love taking photographs and are active on Instagram, think about combining these two passions. You can promote different brands by taking creative photos of their products, and if you can attract a large number of visitors, the brands will gladly pay you for your skills. Of course, there are some details you’d need to know, like how to use hashtags correctly and how to connect with your audience. However, if you like spending time on social media, you could surely master those details in a heartbeat (if you haven’t already).

In case you don’t have much free time, a great way to earn money online is completing online surveys. Basically, you’d be getting paid for giving your opinion on a certain topic, product or service. The best part about the surveys is that you can do them while shopping, commuting to work, or simply waiting in line to pay bills. Also, most of them take around 15-20 minutes to complete, and they don’t require any special experience, which means that anybody over 18 can take part in them.

The modern life has created a demand for people who have some extra time to walk the dogs instead of the owners who are simply too busy to do so every day. So, if you are a dog lover, this could be a perfect side job for you. It’s also a great opportunity for people who love dogs but cannot afford to have one of their own. However, if you don’t have much time for walking but you’d still like to spend your free time with a man’s best friend, you should consider dog sitting. This job requires you to take care of somebody’s home and dogs while the owners are on vacation, business trip, or simply working long hours. Since you would be staying in somebody else’s home and taking care of only the dogs inside it, you could be much more flexible with your time.

Are you one of those people who always have great relationship advice but cannot seem to find a date for themselves? If so, maybe you should consider becoming an online dating consultant. There are a lot of people willing to pay for a good online dating coach, and many dating companies could use your skills to help them improve their websites. This way, even if you can’t get a date, you can at least feel good about helping others find one.

If you love your local customs and history and you live in a city that is often visited by tourists, consider becoming a tour guide. This side job would allow you to share interesting facts about your city, meet a lot of new people, and be a part of something memorable as they experience the city for the first time. The things you would need for this job (besides your knowledge) are a loud, clear voice and an easily noticeable accessory, like a colorful umbrella or flag, so your tourists can always see you.

Refurbishing electronics is not something that’s going to earn you a fortune, but if you love technology and are good at fixing malfunctioning devices, it could be an easy side hustle for you. Many people give up on their broken phones, laptops, or cameras without even trying to find somebody who can fix them. So, all you’d need to do is buy off their seemingly dead electronics, fix them, and resell them for a higher price.

Side jobs are not all about the money. They are a way for you to fight the imposed patterns, the feeling of being stuck in life, and the truth behind the “you can be whatever you want” phrase most millennials have been told all their childhood. In any case, if you feel like having a side job can offer you that perfect blend of passion and income, don’t hesitate to find one.
