Fifteen Minutes That Changed My Life Forever!

I remember years ago when I was in 2nd grade my teacher asked me why I was squinting to see the board from the front row. In that moment I didn’t even realize I was squinting, I was used to overcompensating to see long distance. I went home that day and said to my parents, “I think I need to get my eyes checked.” YUP, I definitely needed glasses and started wearing contacts in the 3rd grade.

Glasses, soft contacts, hard contacts – you name it I tried it. It has truly been a struggle between glasses and contacts for as long as I can remember. I had astigmatism in both eyes and such a strong prescription that I had to have custom contact lenses made. After my puppy chewed up 2 pairs of GOOD glasses and the continued cost of custom contacts, I decided to put an end to the misery and get Lasik Eye Surgery!

 Highly recommended by my optometrist, I made an appointment to see  Dr. Cory Lessner at the Millennium Laser Eye Center in Sunrise, Florida. I felt pretty confident going to Dr. Lessner when I learned that he had performed Lasik Surgery on Dwyane Wade, Gabrielle Union, and The Rock! My experience at Dr. Lessner’s office was tremendous. At my consultation appointment, I was greeted by the extremely kind staff and brought to my exam room. After a series of tests and a thorough examination, I was told that I was a perfect candidate for the surgery. It was truly music to my ears!

I had several pre-operation appointments to ensure that there were no drastic changes in my eyes before surgery. The pre-op appointments included dilating my eyes, checking my corneal thickness, and measuring my pupil size. I was informed of everything to expect the day of my surgery and post op.

 Before I knew it, it was operation day! I was so excited, but very nervous as well. Not nervous for any pain, but nervous as to whether or not this surgery would actually be able to help my horrible eye site! I could not wrap my head around the fact that I may not need glasses or contacts, it was too good to be true!

Well, I am here to tell you that there was NOTHING to be nervous about. The surgery was painless, and the process was seamless. Not to mention the whole surgery took about 15 minutes! The coolest part-  Dr. Lessner streamed my surgery via Facebook Live so that my friends and family could watch. While in surgery, you are laying down and watching a cool light show while the Laser does all the magic. I FELT NOTHING! The eye numbing drops work wonders.

I left Dr. Lessner’s office that day with 20/20 vision. I could not be happier with my entire experience at Millennium Laser Eye Center and would happily recommend Lasik eye surgery! For those of you who contemplate if Lasik surgery is for you…don’t let fear get in the way and get a consultation.

I could not be more thankful that every day I wake up and immediately can see. Truly the 15-minute surgery changed my life in so many ways and it was one of the best decisions and investment I have ever made in myself. After all these years, I can finally see clearly and the future looks VERY bright!!!
