7 Types of Trips to Take in Your Twenties

Trips to take in your twenties

1. Backpacking through Europe

Stay in hostiles before you are too old to realize how gross hostiles actually are. If you have never left the country this is a great and cheaper way for you to see many different countries, cities and towns. Before going, map out your course of travel and book hostiles, train rides, etc. but still leave some room for flexibility and chance of a whimsical adventure. Hopefully you will meet exciting new people and absorb every ounce of other cultures you can.

2. Camping with friends

Challenge your survival and wilderness skills with your friends on a weekend getaway to the middle of nowhere. It can be a relatively cheap trip but packed with tons of fun. Sitting next to a bonfire, under the stars, swapping stories with your closest friends screams serenity and good memories.

3. Vegas

Go. Just go. Act like you are a VIP—you deserve it.

4. Cruise with family members

There is no better way to bond with your family members than being stuck on a boat with them for a week. You will start to commiserate over all the food you have stuffed yourself full of and how much lounging has taken place since taking off. There will be something for every age group to enjoy on the cruise which means plenty of fun and exciting times.

5. Service trip

Humble yourself by going on a service trip or missionary trip to help those in need. You have been given such a privileged life compared to millions of people and it is time to give something back. Find an organization or cause you care about and go get your hands dirty. Religious or communities centers are always looking for volunteers for trips and service projects.

6. Staycation

Often times we are so busy during the week to experience all that our own city or town has to offer. Be a tourist in your own town. After all, you don’t know how long you might live there anyways. Go hit up all the spots you usually tell visiting family and friends to go and take a hundred pictures as if you have never seen the sites before. You might even discover a new favorite spot or restaurant along the way!

7. Your grandparents (or great grandparents) birth place

Feel a deeper connection to your relatives by visiting the city, town or country of your grandparents or great grandparents if you have never done so. Get a feel for what life was like for them when they were young and the culture they enjoyed. Come back and share your stories with them or the rest of your family members so they can feel connected as well.

If you have taken an awesome trip in your twenties and recommend others to explore them please share!

  1. *Hostel, not hostile! Sorry, I couldn’t help it. 😉

Studying abroad, either for a few months or a few years, is an awesome way to get travel experience and connect it to your coursework. You can’t help but develop a global mindset when you see how other people live, how they struggle, and how they solve problems. It’s a great way to realize what you truly love (or hate…) about your home country! Great post.

  2. And if you do backpack Europe go inter-railing! The best way to get around Europe and you see so much from the window. I loved it and the trains are so old style in Eastern Europe, proper carriages – like being on the Hogwarts express…!
