Make History Today – Twitter Chat with Rotary to End Polio Now!
Calling all Milliennials! Join this Thursday, Dec. 19 from 5pm-5:30pm PST for a fun and informative Twitter Chat with RotaryEnd Polio Now. Why? Because now is the time for our generation to finish the fight and make history by ending the second human disease in the history of the world!
The literal end of polio, a contagious and crippling disease that affects mostly children under five, is very much in sight. Since Rotary and its partners took on the challenge to eradicate polio globally, polio cases have been reduced to historically low levels, from 350,000
cases in 1988 to 223 cases in 2012. But polio outbreaks continue to threaten previously polio-free countries; a resurgence could paralyze 10 million children under the age of five in the next 40 years.
Rotary remains committed to the fight until every child is safe from this horrible disease. Right now, at 99% of the way there, we are this close to eradicating polio and wiping out this terrible disease for good. Which is why Rotary needs your help!
Please join me in an #MakeHistoryToday Twitter chat to learn more about the importance of polio eradication and how we can rally around Rotary to make history today, and help create the roadmap for solving the next global health issue.
