How to Build and Fund Your Dream Business

I am grateful for the opportunity to host another Twitter party with Staples, presenting sponsor of TLC’s new business-genre reality-competition TV series Girl Starter (@GirlStarter). The show, which just wrapped up the first season this past Friday, featured Staples’s dynamic CEO Shira Goodman as a guest judge on the finale! Given the brand’s commitment to entrepreneurs of all ages and stages of business-building (it’s especially proud to support rising female entrepreneurs), Shira was a perfect role model for these inspiring young women, and an obvious choice to help decide on the grand prize winners!

If you need to refresh your memory, Girl Starter documents the journey of eight girls ages 18-24 who are looking to start their own businesses. The show follows them as they compete for seed-round funding, following six steps of early-phase business development from ideation through pitch. The grand prize winning team receives up to $100,000 of investment and services to give their startup that extra push it needs to make an immediate impact.

Girl Starter is now casting Season 2, holding in-person auditions at each stop of its East Coast college campus tour.

This week’s #MillennialTalk features @Staples, @GirlStarter and @StaceyFerreira

Stacey Ferreira is currently the CEO of Forge, an enterprise workforce management application that empowers hourly employees to work on-demand while providing retailers the tools needed to source, hire, manage and retain their workforce. In 2016, Ferreira was named to Forbes “30 under 30” entrepreneurs. She has also been featured in several other media outlets, including The Huffington Post, Women 2.0, Business Insider, CNBC, TechCrunch, and the cover of Seventeen Magazine. She has spoken at popular technology conferences, including TEDxYouthSanDiego, TEDxNYU, and GRAMMY Media Week and has been a guest contributor to Women 2.0 and Forbes.

Staples is a longtime supporter of entrepreneurs and small businesses, helping them thrive by offering a broad and reliable assortment of products, services, and easy ways to shop. The brand looks to the bold, fearless contestants of Girl Starter to help empower and guide other female entrepreneurs toward their dream of building a business from the ground up.
