A week ago I was in the Concrete Jungle, where my mentality was at full speed ahead, while juggling school finals, papers, presentations and work media appearances. The thought of the holiday break was actually causing me anxiety, I just could not imagine slowing down and trying to relax during such a whirlwind of a time. For a solid two weeks every time my head hit the pillow at night I couldn’t allow myself to stop thinking, I was barely sleeping. I tried counting sheep, drinking chamomile tea, wearing an eye mask, listening to the sleep machine app on my Iphone, yet nothing helped me. When finals came to a close I felt both emotionally and physically drained. What my mind and body needed was a break an escape from always having to be “ON.” Although sometimes I think I have super human abilities and feel that I can do it all, I can’t. We humans need to reboot to keep ourselves going. This Holiday break has been about family, friends, relaxation, and food. A couple of cookies never hurt a girl! I hope everyone takes this down time to gear up for a kick butt year to come. 2012 is going to be a year of major accomplishments, motivation, determination, and strength. Now that I have definitely caught up on my sleep and soaked up some Vitamin D from the sun I feel like a whole new person. My head feels clear, my eyes feel more open than ever, and I am so thankful for this break.
Happy Holidays to everyone and have a fantastic New Years.
